If special education was "disinvented" tomorrow, we would all still have a job. Who better to help students on real-life issues than school psychologists? Who better to help students with speech difficulties than speech therapists? Who better help students decide on the best elective than a school counselor? Who better to help students with reading than an expert reading teacher? etc. If special education was "disinvented" tomorrow, that doesn't mean necesary services would be taken away -- only the burden of special education. Students will always need outstanding professional educators to provide outstanding educational services. Right? |
